We love moms. We love families with multiple moms, and we love families without moms. We love ALL kinds of families, so this year, we’re celebrating Mother’s Day with a Youth & Parent/Grownup/Caretaker class! Come make something with your mom/guardian, or let them rest at home while you come with another special grownup!
About Scrappy Sculptures
A class for kids, created by kids! A couple years ago, after spending the holiday season making dozens of cutting boards, planters, and candle holders, I was left with buckets of really cool scraps and off cuts. My kids came to the shop with me one evening and while I was cleaning, they raided the scrap bin and started sanding, gluing, nailing, and screwing these scrap pieces together into what my daughter called “Scrappy Sculptures.”
In this class, youth will learn about different varieties and colors of wood, learn to use sanders, screwdrivers, and hammers, and most of all – their imagination! There’s no limit to what kids can create with the time and space to explore new ideas.
This class also serves as a great (but not required) introduction to the Carpentry 101 class and gives youth the chance to work in the shop and become familiar with new tools and shop safety practices. Every kid will take home their own Scrappy Sculpture!
